Two-barred Crossbills

pretty poor quality record shots as the birds are feeding high up and by the time they appeared in the larch the sun was high above them; six birds yesterday with one female but sounds like 9 today! -- I have trawled a lot of larches and conifer plantations in Lincs in the last 2 weeks and found 1 Common Crossbill! clearly they are localised at the moment but surely we will get an accessible lincs bird this winter?
Really tricky birds to pick up when they were feeding quietly and often hidden in the branches behind the cones; I was also surprised by the size of the bills on the juveniles compared to White-winged Crossbills which I have seen a lot more of -- see post above
