Common Gull with narrow tail band

this first-winter Common Gull had an unusually narrow black sub-erminal tail band with extensive white tail tip and appeared to have no band on the outer two feather unlike the usual one -it also has greatly reduced black in the secondaries that are mostly pale grey- cannot recall seeing such a pattern before but it may be more frequent ?
