most of the juveniles are already moulting head and body feathers to adopt first-winter plumage -- soon they can only be aged by retained juvenile tertials and coverts -- a late adult that has not yet started primary moult whereas most like these others have only 2-3 outer primaries still to replace -- nearly all adults are now in uniform winter plumage ---
